Hey folks, I'm originally from Pittsburgh and The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $900,700, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 63°F, so the weather is moderate. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from LA about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2023 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'm a data analyst and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
