Worst things about Orange nobody talks about

OK so Median household income is $116,945, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 139K, Orange is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 139K people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'm a HR manager and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (East) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Midtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The healthcare scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
