Anyone else love living in Orange Cove?

First post here. Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 9.3%, which is concerning. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Does this match your experience? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Raleigh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.
