Just moved here 4 months ago and It's a a small town city with about 14,251 people. You can expect to pay around $2,016 for rent here. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 8 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in North for 12 years. Moved from Dallas for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Summers can be brutally hot. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The dating scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
