So, I relocated for work and I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much competitive but now it's tough.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I work in manufacturing here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is average. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 29, moved here 4 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Sunset and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The traffic situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The public transit is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
