Hey everyone, I'm single, late 40s, and Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $94,648 in Oregon City. Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. With a population of 37,482, Oregon City is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Phoenix about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
