Honest thoughts on life in Oregon

Curious what people think. Poverty rate is 8.1%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a accountant and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The walkability is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I've lived in South for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Indian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
