Hey folks, You can expect to pay around $1,415 for rent here. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in Eastside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The job market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely improving and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Westside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in legal here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is decent. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
