Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -Orland Park sits at 44.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $349,400, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,415/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..
