Things Orland Park needs to improve

Anyone else feel this way? Been living here since 2014. With a population of 57,961, Orland Park is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 57,961 people. Median household income is $98,979, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,415/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Easy commute
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Boring for young people
- Chain restaurants dominate
Is this normal for Orland Park? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 49, moved here 6 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Springfield and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The food scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Atlanta about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
