Random thought, Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 73°F, so it's warm year-round. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 9 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Midtown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Dallas it's tough.
