Freelancing from Orlando — experience?

Curious what people think. Crime rate is something to consider — Orlando sits at 738.4 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The weather takes some getting used to.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Raleigh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
