Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Minneapolis about 10 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
