First time home buyer in Oshkosh

I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $168,400, which is actually reasonable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cheers. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is tough in most areas.
