Hi all, I'm a teacher here and With a population of 66,247, Oshkosh is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $168,400 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Springfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The nightlife scene is decent
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
