First time home buyer in Ossining

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $100,997, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 26,979, Ossining is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $2,108 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Boring for young people
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Appreciate any input. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Sunset) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is solid in most areas.
