Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 11 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Oswego sits at 64.2 per 100K. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Oswego?

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much affordable but now it's decent.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Cedar Grove for 15 years. Moved from San Francisco for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is decent - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Meadowbrook area are average. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been in Meadowbrook for 5 years. Moved from Phoenix for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is average - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited entertainment options. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The healthcare is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cost of living scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
