So, Been living here since 2008. With a population of 8,699, Othello is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Othello sits at 83.5 per 100K. Homes are going for about $278,600 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in tech here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is pretty good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
