Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $73,011 in Ottawa. Crime rate is something to consider -Ottawa sits at 149.6 per 100K. Median household income is $73,011, which feels about average for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.
