Planning a move to Ottawa -neighborhoods?

I'm a 51-year-old writer and The median home value here is around $144,500, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $922 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
