Ottawa quality of life -am I missing something?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Ottawa sits at 229.1 per 100K. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to New York it's hit or miss.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much established but now it's solid.
