Biggest downsides of living in Overland Park?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Median household income is $103,838, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $384,400 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Midtown area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Portland about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
