Raising a family in Overland Park — thoughts?

Curious what people think. Crime rate is something to consider — Overland Park sits at 178.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Came here for work and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The nightlife is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much wild but now it's hit or miss.
