Is Overlea worth it salary-wise?

Hi all, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $249,500, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Does this match your experience?

Bought a house here in 2019 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 11 years. Moved from Houston for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is decent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.
