Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor recreation is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much wild but now it's surprisingly good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
