Hi all, I'm single, late 40s, and Rent is about $1,222/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Vietnamese places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Old Town for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The school system scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..
