Thinking about relocating to Owasso from Houston

Hi all, Homes are going for about $231,400 on average. Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,222 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Does this match your experience? Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Dallas about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Austin about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 3 years. Moved from Austin for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..
