Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are Average temperature is around 45--F, so bundle up in winter. Median household income is $81,276, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $234,600, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong sense of community
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
