Living in Owensboro -the reality

Hello, We have two kids and It's a a smaller city city with about 60,112 people. Household incomes average around $53,295 in Owensboro. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 14 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
