What surprised you most about Owensboro?

Alright, The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely solid and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Eastside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
