I'm a remote worker and With a population of 22,063, Oxford is a small town. Rent is about $882/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Pine Hills area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely decent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Eastside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
