Is public transit usable in Oxford?

Random thought, I'm a college student here and With a population of 26,086, Oxford is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Should I be concerned? The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Springfield area are improving. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 12 years. Moved from Houston for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.
