Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $42,147 in Oxford. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Is this normal for Oxford? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 32, moved here 4 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Uptown and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The weather situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..
