So, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Southern places. it's been a really good experience overall.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
