Quick question about Ozark

With a population of 21,953, Ozark is a small town. Homes are going for about $230,600 on average. Median household income is $69,372, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What do you all think? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 15 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely tough and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Came here for weather and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Boston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 51, moved here 8 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Pine Hills and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The cultural scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
