Biggest downsides of living in Pace?

I work in insurance and Crime rate is something to consider -Pace sits at 286.0 per 100K. Rent is about $1,195/month for a decent place. Median household income is $84,912, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $271,400 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
Looking forward to hearing from you all. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 45, moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Oak Park and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Property taxes are high
3. The traffic situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is solid in most areas.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
