Moving from Chicago to Pacifica next month

Longtime lurker here, You can expect to pay around $3,080 for rent here. Household incomes average around $156,819 in Pacifica. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned? Thanks! I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 1 years. Moved from Seattle for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Limited shopping options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 12 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely challenging and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Midtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
