Worst things about Pacifica nobody talks about

Random thought, Military spouse here. Rent is about $3,080/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Denver about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 6 years. Moved from Austin for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is improving - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Limited entertainment options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
