OK so We have two kids and Median household income is $50,464, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Pahokee sits at 931.3 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is tough in most areas.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor recreation is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely decent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The dating scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
