Moving to Pahrump for work -advice?

First post here. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. With a population of 45,811, Pahrump is a smaller city. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thanks! The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Tampa about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'm a electrician and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
