Is Palermo getting better or worse?

So, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Palermo sits at 565.6 per 100K. With a population of 5,440, Palermo is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,067 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The cost of living is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
