Is it worth buying in Palm Bay?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 37-year-old chef and It's a a mid-size city city with about 125K people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thoughts?

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much developing but now it's challenging.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 11 years. Moved from Tampa for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not very walkable outside downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Uptown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Moved here from Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to safety but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
