Hey folks, I'm retired and Rent is about $1,849/month for a decent place. With a population of 9,234, Palm Beach is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Palm Beach sits at 90.1 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $175,078 in Palm Beach. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What do you all think? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 32, moved here 2 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Midtown and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
