Is Palm Beach Gardens worth it salary-wise?

OK so I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Palm Beach Gardens sits at 136.3 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Worth the trade-offs?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for weather and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The food scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 33, moved here 4 years ago from Portland. I've lived in South and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Property taxes are high
3. The school system situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
