Life in Palm Springs as a young professional

Longtime lurker here, The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Phoenix it's challenging.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Miami about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..
