Moving to Palm Springs -what should I know?

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 2 months ago and Rent is about $1,597/month for a decent place. With a population of 26,871, Palm Springs is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $59,602 in Palm Springs. Crime rate is something to consider -Palm Springs sits at 636.3 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely improving and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
