Housing market in Palmas comunidad right now

Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Palmas comunidad sits at 2,771.8 per 100K. With a population of 1,173, Palmas comunidad is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 37, moved here 4 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cultural scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is improving in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
