How much do you pay for rent in Palmetto Estates?

Hey folks, Rent is about $2,015/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Close to nature

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Eastside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.
