Is Palo Alto worth it salary-wise?

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 50s, and It's a a smaller city city with about 67,231 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Chicago about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..
