You can expect to pay around $3,328 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The food scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
